Dear American College Dublin Students,
I would like to take a moment at the start of the fall semester to welcome our first-year students and welcome back all those returning to American College Dublin. This is always an exciting time of year, as students, faculty, and staff return refreshed from the summer break and ready to get to work. Of course, we will make sure to have a bit of fun along the way as well!
A lot has happened since the end of the last academic year, including several important additions to our staff and administration. I would like you all to join me in welcoming our new Registrar, Clare Morrison, who takes over from the long-serving David Webb following his retirement from the college this summer. We are very grateful to David for his many years of service to ACD and wish him all the best in his retirement.
We are also pleased to welcome our new Assistant Director of Student Support and Services, Dr. Samantha Sandy. Dr. Sandy will be involved in student activities, student government, and many other aspects of student life, helping to ensure that our students feel supported and engaged throughout their time at ACD.
Another exciting development is our new partnership with The Lark in Balbriggan, just outside Dublin. For the first time in our history, this partnership provides our Performing Arts and Musical Theatre students with a dedicated home. The Lark offers state-of-the-art theatre and production facilities, along with rehearsal and training spaces, all in one location. Our Performing Arts students can now spend more time practicing and developing their craft rather than traveling throughout Dublin to various rented facilities. This is an exciting new chapter for our Performing Arts programs and for the college as a whole.
As we begin the new academic year, I encourage every student to reach out to a member of our faculty or staff if you encounter any difficulties. For our incoming first-year students in particular, starting college can be a significant transition. Please do not be afraid or reluctant to speak with someone at the college if you need guidance, assistance, or simply someone to talk to. We are here to support you and want you to make the most of your experience at ACD.
We are all very excited about what this academic year will bring. Remember to enjoy the semester, work hard toward your goals, and take advantage of the opportunities available to you. I look forward to seeing you throughout the year and encourage you to make the most of your time here, build lasting friendships, and create wonderful memories at American College Dublin.
