Student Union

Student Union, Class Representatives, and Societies

The Student Union is the heart of student representation. Each semester, we recruit Class Representatives so your voice directly shapes student life and academic experience. Want to start a new society? We’ll help you set it up! Recent student-led activities have included board game night and arts & crafts study break. Established societies (e.g., Literary, LGBTQ+, Horror) run throughout the year and always welcome new members.

The Student Union at American College Dublin represents students both within the institution and externally.

Members of the Student Union are expected to . . .
  • serve as a voice for the student
  • work to better the collective college experience
  • attend Student Union and SMC meetings
  • gather feedback from other students to provide to the Student Services & Support Office (SSSO)
  • plan, run, and participate in Union events, trips, activities, etc
  • work on advertising and marketing events and activities
  • keep in regular contact with the SSSO on key matters
  • demonstrate commitment to the Student Union and American College Dublin
  • attend weekly and/or biweekly meetings with the SSSO
  • when necessary, refer other students to support services
  • act as a representative of ACD by upholding professionalism and positivity
  • work with the SSSO to market school events, trips, activities, etc
  • help compose and maintain bulletin boards
  • help plan the semester’s event schedule

Students can get involved in the union by sending an email to studentservices@iamu.edu or speaking to their Student Union representative.

Quick FAQ

How do I become a Class Rep?
Watch for the call from the Student Union in Week 2–3 each semester.

Can I propose a new society?
Yes. Collect a small list of interested students (usually 5+), draft a simple purpose/activities outline, and submit to Student Services for quick approval and a starter budget discussion.
